Removal of chatbox

Dear pupils of 5.8,

I have removed the chatbox as there are pupils who have sought the opportunity to misuse it and create some unsettled feelings among the pupils in the class. I will only revive the chatbox only if we can find a way to track the pupils using it. Meanwhile, I welcome suggestions on what we can do to allow you to chat in a safer environment.

As for tomorrow, I will still be online from 9am - 10am. If you have any problems accessing your e-learning package, you can always send emails to me.

Mrs Ching

Proper use of chatbox

Dear pupils of 5.8,

I have to reiterate the rules of using the chatbox again.

I have stressed the use of standard English while communicating with your friends many times. However, I still notice that some of you are ignoring my advice. For your information, I do check your messages once in a while. I do appreciate if you could help to remind your friends about writing good and properly spelled words if they fail to do so while you are chatting with them.

I appreciate all your help and cooperation.

Regards,
Mrs Ching

Snapshot

The cold wind blew mercilessly at Peter. He looked filthy and under-nourished. He had only an old ragged brown coat with sewn patches all over on him. He shuffled along the rows of houses, the freezing snow chilling his feet to the bones. Christmas carols and merry laughter of children drifted in the air. Peter spotted a nice little cottage. It was made out of strong, hard wood. Peter drew out his cold, shivering hand to wipe the mist off the glass windows and plastered his dirty face against it. He peeped into it. His large liquid-looking eyes were filled with sadness. Inside the cottage, there sat a brilliant Christmas tree well-decorated with brass ornaments and there was even a golden star sitting right at the very top of the humongous tree. But what really caught the hungry boy’s was a big golden brown turkey sitting on white polished oversized dinner plate, waiting to be eaten. Peter looked longingly at the sumptuous turkey. The candles around it seemed to have made the turkey glow brighter than ever! He thought he could smell it – the delicious turkey. Oh! How he longed to relish the warm comfort of a home and the delicious meal. Tears welled up in his eyes. The wind ruffled his messy hair mockingly. He wrinkled his nose as a tear tumbled his red puffy cheeks.
